about

Another prayer song, this one to the moon. We lived for just a little in a trailer on a mountain-top farm in California and when the moon was full I swear it felt closer and brighter than it ever had before - almost like we were in the atmosphere and heading right towards it. When I picture it now we were basically E.T. and Elliot, flying right by it on bikes. Dave's organ-journey-through-space at the end captures this as well. I don't remember feeling fearful or desperate when I wrote this song, but you know how these things work sometimes - it was definitely in there.

lyrics

Bless me moon, make me better
Bring some hope with this letter
Because I have never needed this before
No, I have never needed this before

Tonight you are beside me as I breathe
A light to keep away bad dreams
Because I have never needed this before
No, I have never needed this before

You are alive, you are alight
And you're my last reason to fight
You are alive, you are alight
And I have never needed this before
No, I have never needed this before
